Cherny's Vision for Economic Recovery Puts People First; Wins Historic Endorsement from former Republican Rep. Jim Kolbe

Republican Jim Kolbe will endorse and chair Cherny's campaign

PHOENIX - Former Arizona prosecutor and State Treasurer candidate Andrei Cherny today announced a historic endorsement from former U.S. Representative Jim Kolbe. Kolbe will also chair Cherny's campaign on the belief in Cherny's ideas and methods to revive the Arizona economy. The announcement was made this afternoon at Tucson's famed Hotel Congress.

Cherny is the first Democrat on a federal or statewide level that Kolbe has endorsed. In announcing his support, Kolbe spoke to Cherny's track record as a fiscal conservative. "I trust Andrei Cherny and I believe he will do a superb job as State Treasurer," Kolbe said. "Andrei has the background, knowledge and management skills to help get Arizona out of the fiscal mess we're in."

"I am enormously honored to have Congressman Kolbe's support and to have his leadership in our campaign," Cherny said. "As the former Dean of our delegation to the House, he represents the kind of leadership Arizona has been known for in years past but that is so clearly lacking today: thoughtful, dedicated, and willing to work across party lines to get things done. He has been a committed fiscal conservative and a spending hawk and that’s what I hope to bring to the Treasurer’s office."

"I’m a fiscal conservative first and a Democrat second and we need people who will put principle ahead of party," Cherny added. "I am running for Treasurer to help provide leadership that is more interested in crossing the political aisle than in crossing partisan swords."
